(Berlin, Germany, February 16, 2013) The 63rd Berlin International Film Festival’s International Jury has announced the recipients of their prestigious awards for feature-length films in competition.

GOLDEN BEAR for Best Film :
Child’s Pose

Romanian director Calin Peter Netzer’s film, Child’s Pose, starring Luminita Gheorghiu and Bogdan Dumitrache has walked away with the coveted Golden Bear (first prize) at the 2013 Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival).
Child’s Pose is Netzer’s third film, but he is no stranger to festival success, having garnered many awards for his previous two films, Maria and Medal of Honor.
Gheorghiu, a 30-year veteran actor, burned up the screen in her role as Cornelia, a dominant mother, with the respected actor, Bogdan Numitrach, as her troubled adult son.
This exploration of a pathological parent’s over-bearing love and its effect on her son’s search for independence is an emotional story told against the backdrop of Romanian society.
According to Netzer, Child’s Pose is a “camera-dependent film…that attempts to convey states of mind, feelings, smoldering conflicts, desperate outburst… a slice of life almost as authentic as a documentary.”
